Some of the actors will get into the Christmas spirit by baking holiday-themed treats in order to please the famed judges of The Great British Baking Show, Paul Hollywood, and Prue Leith.
According to the show’s synopsis:

The series is meant to brighten up the festive season. It will have new recipes, challenges, and celebrity contestants. The Netflix program will follow the basic premise of the series, in which competitors compete in a bake-off to impress the judges. One person is eliminated at the conclusion of each episode. Olly Alexander, Lydia West, Nathaniel Curtis, and Shaun Dooley will be among the four celebrity participants on The Great British Baking Show: Holidays. Alexander received the British LGBT Award and was nominated for a BAFTA for his performance as the main actor in It’s a Sin.
Lydia West portrayed Jill Baxter in the mini-series, for which she received a BAFTA nod. In It’s a Sin, Nathaniel Curtis portrays Ash Mukherjee. As the new season begins, he joins the rest of The Great British Baking Show: Holidays and Shaun Dooley. The Great British Baking Show: Holidays trailer depicts contestants attempting to bake a pie from Christmas leftovers. The video shows four celebrities attempting to figure things out as Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood give input. Leith provided context for the footage by saying:
“I believe the majority of the country would agree with me that the best part of Christmas food is the leftovers.”
Celebrities may choose their own pastry, as long as the “baking is crucial.” Leith added that the contestants must avoid a “soggy bottom” and bake the pastry until it is crisp. The judges, all of whom are British culinary legends, are expecting nuanced flavor and texture from these bakers. According to Hollywood:
“Will I be as harsh in my judging? Not at all. Isn’t it the holiday season? And I’m sure they’ve practiced.”
The two judges have been with the franchise for a long time and will hopefully remain so. Watch what happens when the Christmas-themed show premieres on November 18.
